It was hard to contain my excitement when Red Lodge-based Roscoe Outdoor sent me a pair of Hellroaring Pants to review. I often don both Roscoe’s Camp Shorts and Washakie pants, and was curious about the lightest of the Roscoe pant fleet. As light as wearing no pants and almost as breathable — the freedom of movement in the Hellroaring is amazing.
These britches are loaded with intelligent features for the outdoor Mama, including SPR 50 fabric, zippered pockets and a pull on the calf that cinches the cuff. Whether commuting by bike or trying to keep my pants dry while wading to help my son untangle his line, I often find myself rocking the Roscoe capris.
Another thing I appreciate about Roscoe is that they continue to tweak and improve their product line. An iPhone 5 easily fit in my first pair of Washakie’s, but the newest phone pocket even fits my hubby’s massive 6+ and is zippered in a more ergonomic position. The newest versions fit better than ever, and are the most flattering, least frumpish of any of my quick-dry pants. Roscoe offers two fits — curvy and straight — in each size run. Mountain Mamas come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so kudos to Roscoe for offering more options to get ladies on the trail, rock and river.
I am happy to report my Roscoe Hellroaring are my favorite active pants. So stop into your favorite local retailer and get yourself a pair — they will be your go-to for any warm season mountain activity. See you on the trail!
